Five Ways to Incorporate Fashion Into Your Home

Because fashion is and always has been such a big part of my life, I really wanted that to translate through my home decor.  As much as I love getting a chic handbag or designer pair of shoes in the mail, to me, there's nothing quite like receiving items for your home.  I really wanted our space to be cozy and inviting, but while also mimicing my neutral, classic style.  Throughout the last couple of years, I've picked up a few really special pieces, that do just that - incorporate classic, timeless fashion into our home.  They are, without a doubt, my favorite part of our decor!
1. Vintage Trays.  I found this vintage, Gucci ashtray about a year ago from an antique store in Brooklyn, New York and absolutely fell in love with it.  Just to think about the history of where this thing has been and the people that actually used it as an ashtray is so fascinating to me.  I knew I wanted something that would not only be pretty to look at, but also a conversation piece.  This tray definitely makes our coffee table and sits pretty on top of two of my favorite fashion books.
2. Hermès Blanket.  This is the one item that I have dreamed about owning forever.  I think I knew what an Avalon blanket was before I even knew what a Birkin was!  While redecorating our home over the past year and a half, there were so many other big items to purchase, that a blanket just didn't quite make the top of the list.  However, we only have two rooms left to complete - our bedroom and my walk in, so I thought it was the perfect time to splurge.  Once our bedroom is complete, that's where this beauty will live!  Not only do I love the luxury, designer brand behind the blanket, I also love what it actually is.  If you'll notice, John and I both have a major love for horses and have photos of them all throughout our home.  So, the equestrian feel of the horse blanket just fit right in with our 'french farmhouse' theme.  Again, incorporating our style and what we love with a little high end, designer flair.
 3. Diffusers + Candles.  Everyone has their go-to scents for their home, but when the packaging is this pretty, you can decorate with them!  My three favorites are: Diptyque 'Baies', Jo Malone 'Peony & Blush Suede' and my very favorite, Antica Farmacista 'Prosecco' Diffuser (you can never find these on sale, but they are currently part of the #Nsale!).  And of course, I change up my favorites throughout the seasons, especially during the Fall/Holidays, but those are definitely my three staples.  The Diptyque candle holders can be used for storage even after the candle is gone and the diffuser is just the best thing you've ever smelt.  Even J thinks so!
4. Books & Art.  Although there are bits of Fashion incorporated all throughout our home, I love that when you walk through the door, you see a table full of Fashion Books and before you leave, the last thing you see is this Prada 'Marfa' Print.  Both books and art are fairly easy to style, but make a room feel so cozy and inviting.  They're both things that are so specific to your personal style, so it really makes a house feel like a home.  My goal one day is to have a small room/library dedicated to all of my favorite Fashion Books, Art, and vintage pieces.
5. Trays.  There are so many different sizes, shapes, and colors of trays that you can style around your home, but my favorite is a small, trinket tray.  These photos are pretty plain because this is our bedroom, which is not quite complete yet, but I sort of love the simplicity of them.  I wanted a small dish, similar to my vintage Gucci tray, for the top of my dresser to serve as a catch-all, and finally found the perfect one.  This Hermès dish is actually part of a place setting, but is so perfect to hold some of your favorite pieces at the end of the day.  I'll have more photos to share of our bedroom reveal really soon, so stay tuned!
