THE LOVELY FIVE
Hi there, babes -
I hope you've all had a great week so far! When I first started my blog, (over 6 years ago, which is SO crazy!!) I used to always share a weekly 'FIVE' and I loved it. Whatever I was focusing on that particular week - products I loved, recent order I had placed, recipes I found/made, photos that inspired me, etc. One thing I've learned over the past few years is that sometimes simply getting back to the basics is just good for the soul. So, here I am - sharing a few of my favorite things from this week! Just real life, genuine obsessions, not sponsored content. So here we go!
NO. ONE //
Kabobs. Sounds simple, I know, but J and I have had such an obsession with grilling kabobs lately!! As I've shared them on my instastories, a few of you have asked for the recipe and while there isn't one, I can tell you exactly what we do to get the perfect kabob!
-Skewers
-Chicken
-Red Pepper
-Green Pepper
-Sweet Onion
-Jalapeño
-Sweet Cherry Peppers (from Trader Joe's)
-Zucchini
-Squash
Before filling each skewer with a combination of these vegetables, we season the raw chicken with a little salt, pepper, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper. After filling the skewers, lay them in a large dish and pour Trader Joe's Island Soyaki over them. The pineapple + soy flavor is absolutely amazing! After marinating, we grill them on low heat for about 25-30 minutes. They are so good by themselves, or if we're really hungry, we've been making cranberry rice or quinoa as a side. SO delish for a quick, warm weather dinner on the deck!
NO. TWO //
The Free People tank I literally live in! If you're anything like me, when you love something, you buy it in multiple colors. Each year, Free People comes out with a $20(ish) tank for the season and I don't think I've loved any of them as much as I love this one. It's so relaxed and gives you that cool-girl vibe without the price tag. Pair it with a chic bralette and literally anything on the bottom and you're golden! (So far, I've purchased the black, white, and army green!) Full look here.
NO. THREE //
Flats. As most of you know, I'm a flats girl for the most part. Don't get me wrong, I love a chic pair of heels, but most days I'm a sneaker + sandal girl over everything! During the Shopbop sale, I purchased these flats and absolutely love them. During the week, and let's be serious - probably the weekend's too, you'll usually find me in a pair of boyfriend jeans + a fitted tee, so I thought these sequin sandals would be perfect for adding a little sparkle to an otherwise basic outfit. I love the rose gold, too - it will look so good with a tan!! #allaboutthattan
NO. FOUR //
My newest obsession - IGK Hair Dry Shampoo! We all know I'm a dry shampoo girl on the daily, but this one is uh-mazing. I've tried so many brands, gone through so many bottles, and let me tell you - this one might be my favorite yet. The texture + body it gives my hair is SO good. I believe this brand makes 3 or 4 different scents + bottles, but I chose the jet lag because my hair is always looking rough and like it needs to be brought back to life. I'm telling you - this one is pure magic! #notsponsored
NO. FIVE //
Homemade Almond Butter. Weird, right? Trust me, I've become so crunchy lately between the homemade almond butter + chicken life that I'm scaring myself even! After shopping in the grocery store the other day and deciding on which almond butter I wanted to spend TEN dollars on, I decided to look up a homemade recipe. I quickly learned that there's literally nothing to it! I simply bought a huge bag of dry, roasted almonds, my girlfriend and I put them in her food processor for 15-20 min, and DONE. After grinding for so long, the natural oils in the almonds come out and turn into an oily, buttery paste that then makes almond butter. It was so easy and SO good! I typically eat a Van's waffle each morning (another post on that, soon!) and I've been adding this to the top, along with organic honey + a banana. SO good + good for you - can't go wrong!
If there's anything life changing that you guys have come across this week, I'd love to know in the comments below! Also, do you guys like the randomness of the LOVELY FIVE? Let me know if you'd like to see a similar post every week or so!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a beautiful day!
X.
