HOW TO WAKE UP INSPIRED

When we moved in to our new home ten weeks ago, there was so much to do that rather than waking up feeling inspired, I woke up feeling overwhelmed.  Don't get me wrong, I also woke up with a huge smile on my face, SO incredibly happy to finally be in, around all of our stuff that feels like home, and back to normal.  However, I was letting what surrounded me define how my day started.  I've struggled a bit with trying to be organized, on top of my email, creative, and all of the other things that come with being a business owner who works from home, all while trying to be the perfect housewife who has everything clean + tidy with dinner on the table when her husband gets home.  I quickly learned that not only is that unobtainable most days, but it's also a lot of pressure to put on yourself.  Rather than waking up with a to-do list on my mind or stressing about what needs to be done over the next eight hours, I quickly came to realize that how I start my day sets the tone for how the rest of the day will fall into place.  Over the last few weeks, I've organically created a morning routine that has completely changed my days for the better.  Here are three tips for how to wake up feeling inspired:
ONE. // CREATE A ROUTINE AND STICK TO IT.
Once I pour my first cup of coffee, I like to really enjoy it.  I usually sit up in bed, turn on the Today Show in the background and before I even pick up my phone, I take in every sip of that much need caffeine.  Chatting with J while he's getting ready, spending time with my sweet pups in front of the fire, and slowly easing in to the day.  After J leaves and I start my routine, I've learned that it's all about balance.  There are a few things around the house that need to be done each day, but rather than viewing them as chores, I knock them out first thing.  Watering all of my plants + flowers outside, unloading the dishwasher from the night before, etc. - all simple things that once you do them, you feel a bit accomplished by 8:30AM and they're not weighing on you throughout the day.  It also creates a clean + more organized space for me since I work from home, which inevitably translates into my work day.  Whatever your morning routine looks like, start with something you enjoy and then move on to something that makes you feel accomplished from the get-go.
TWO. // GRAVITATE TOWARDS CREATIVITY.
What's the one thing you can do each morning that will make you want to be better?  Whatever it is that sparks creativity in you, use that as motivation throughout the day.  For me, I always draw inspiration from reading other blogs.  Once I open my laptop each day, it's usually hours before I close it, so I like to start with something that inspires me and reminds me why I started.  I read a few of my favorite blogs and sometimes even graze Pinterest for a few minutes simply to feel inspired to create.  As a blogger, I constantly try to come up with new, exciting, unique content for FATL and starting the day with what sparks my creativity is everything.  Here are a few of my must-check sites each morning-
For others, it may be simply cleaning off your desk each morning or making a to-do list you can physically cross off throughout the day.  Whatever you add to your morning routine that makes you want to be better, do better, know more, or draw inspiration from should be a must.
THREE. // DO SOMETHING FOR YOURSELF.
After knocking out a few things around the house, focusing on feeling creative, three or four cups of coffee (oh wait, is that just me?), and checking my favorite websites, I try to remember to do something for myself.  Even if it's small, just something that my future self will thank me for.  Most days this looks like my morning skincare routine, drinking lots of lemon water, eating a healthy breakfast, and some days even starting dinner so it's one more thing checked off my list for the day.  (I'll be sharing a few of my favorite recipes on the blog soon, that will help you accomplish this!)  All of our days get crazy, throw us curveballs, and derail our plans sometimes, but it's important to remember to take care of yourself in the process.  For a while, I lost track of that and it completely changed how I felt throughout the day.  Starting the day with two or three things that take care of your skin, your diet, and your body will all translate into a positive mindset throughout the day.
These three things have helped me so much in getting back to starting my day on the right foot - feeling motivated, inspired, and creative.  All of these things make me a better wife, friend, and human at the end of the day.  I truly believe how you start determines how strong you finish and I hope this post is a reminder that you can do anything you set your mind to!  Now, lets go GSD, babes!
Thanks so much for stopping by, x.
