Chicago: Art of Local

A couple of weeks ago, I took off for a long weekend in Chicago with SpringHill Suites River North!  Chicago is one of my absolute favorite cities to visit and it never disappoints - even in the rain!  When I arrived to the hotel, I was so excited to see that it was in such a central location.  It's literally walking distance from so many great restaurants (including my two favorites, RPM Italian and RPM Steak), bars, and coffee shops, donut shops, and tourist attractions.
The view from our room was so perfect!  Being able to the see the whole city lit up at nighttime was my favorite - it was SO pretty!
The hotel was just renovated and it looks amazing!  The clean, modern lines + mid-century furniture that fills the lobby is so welcoming.  The Lobby is actually on the 2nd floor, so it feels a bit secluded and tucked away, which I love.
The beds in the suites are amazing!  So soft + comfortable and even perfect for sharing!  I was in my own room the first few days, but didn't want to leave just yet!  J met me in the city and we moved into a double-bed room with friends for the remainder of the weekend!
The hotel offers so many great amenities and 'little extras', like breakfast each morning, but the new bar in the lobby is so great!  We had a drink here before dinner almost every night and it's so cozy!  You're surrounded by fireplaces + flat screen TVs, which was perfect for catching all of the weekend football games while traveling!
During our first 3 days at SpringHill, the hotel showed us around to some of the best spots in the city.  After arriving + checking in, we hit up River Roast for dinner which was amazing!  The food was delicious and the atmosphere was so quaint.  Most of the food is family style, which was great because we got to try so many things!
After dinner, we headed to a speakeasy bar, Untitled Supper Club that was beyond cool.  A VIP whiskey tasting and jazz band were waiting on us when we walked through the door and it was so much fun!  It's only minutes from the hotel and such a great, hidden spot in downtown Chicago.
The next day, we braved the rain and headed out for the 'Art & Architecture' Boat Tour on the Chicago River.  The views from the water are like no other.  When J and I went to Chicago for the first time in January, it was too cold to take the tour, so we were so excited to be able to do it this trip!  Learning the history of the city + seeing all of the crazy, cool architecture is absolutely incredible.
Later that evening, SpringHill hosted their first annual 'Art of Local' event!  A live band, Misterwives (SO cool by the way), performed, and there was an exhibition of national artisans.  Everything from a dessert station and face painting art to a Photo Booth and homemade Chicago treats, the event was an absolute blast.  And one of the best parts about the hotel?  Having Hub 51 Restaurant right beside you when you're feeling a little take out room service after partying!
SpringHills- Thank you so much for hosting us and planning such fun, unforgettable events while we were in town!  We had the best time and can't wait to plan another trip soon!!
In case you missed them, here are a few of my snaps while in Chicago!
Thanks so much for stopping by, xx.
