For All Things Lovely HOME TOUR
Because John and I were so young when we got married and bought our home together, we decorated with whatever we could afford at the time, as well as quite a few hand-me-downs and antiques (which we love). I am so fortunate that J is such a handy man and can literally fix anything. He learned it all from his dad, who can also make anything. So, in the first couple of years of fixing up our home, we put a lot of time and effort into the bones of the house. We completely remodeled the kitchen, painted the entire house, changed out every single light fixture, closed in the front porch, replaced the old, wooden windows with beautiful new ones, got a new roof and replaced all of the interior doors. So I think it's safe to say we took a lot of pride in our new home and wanted to make it ours. As I've mentioned before, it's one of my absolute favorite times to look back on in our life so far. We would wake up, go to work, come home and work on the house. Most evenings, that included ordering take out, eating on the floor off of paper plates, and super late nights trying to finish everything before morning. And we loved every single minute of it. SO many laughs, not having a clue what we were doing, but figuring it all out together.
Fast forward to almost seven years later and we're still loving our little, cozy home! After growing up (a little) and our styles changing (a lot), we decided to redecorate our home! When we purged, we really purged!! We literally went room by room and took every single thing out, and never took it back in. Okay, maybe 5-7 things total throughout the house, but not much! One again, we repainted the entire house, switched out light fixtures and upgraded our decor. We decided we wanted to invest in a few things we knew we wanted, before kids, which may or may not have been the smartest thing...but we did it! Haha.
I knew from the beginning that I wanted three things: light, airy, and clean with a modern farmhouse theme. Being from the south, we both love southern accents throughout our home that really make it cozy and special to us. However, I wanted to do all of that with really light, beautiful colors. So our neutral, light gray palette came to life with a few gold accents, distressed grey wood, and a french flair. A few of my favorite things throughout the house: our travel gallery wall of each place we've been together (yes, we have some additions to make!), my vintage Gucci ashtray on our coffee table, our french door china cabinet full of beautiful dishes, our guest room furniture that we found in an old barn, every single horse photo or figurine, and my couture fashion books that are all throughout the house. We both LOVE to entertain, cook dinner, and enjoy time with our family and friends making memories in our home, so we couldn't be happier with the outcome. I hope you all love it, too!
I've listed every. single. source. I could possibly think of, but if there's something you see not listed, definitely let me know! I'm happy to answer any questions, just leave me a comment below or email me at megan.runion@gmail.com!
Thanks so much for stopping by, xx.
